Star Wars: The Last Jedi – trailer drop

Finally (but also as predicted) the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi has finally been released at the annual Star Wars event Celebration in Florida.

The trailer as with any toaster trailer doesn’t give us much on plot details only hints, the main one being that a large part of this film will be Luke Skywalker training Rey with as a follow on from the end of the last film.

Other interesting elements were the obscured but – slightly visible – scarred Kylo Ren in battle once more, Finn is seen still in a coma from his near fatal wounds and Poe Dameron running through a ship that’s under attack, other characters we saw were Captain Phasma, General Leia and BB-8.

Outside of the familiar we have several shots of what seem to be battles happening in space and on a planet but I’m sure further trailers will give us more insight into those plot lines.

The biggest part of this trailer comes at the very end as Luke gives a statement to presumably Rey, “I know only one truth… It’s time for the Jedi to end.” This is something that keen Star Wars fans will be mulling over for the next 8 months until the film is released in mid December. Until then we’ll have to wait another 4 months for a longer trailer and then perhaps a finale one before the film is out, thankfully Star Wars producers have been good at not over doing it with trailers like other franchises (cough WB).
