It has been 12 years since we last had a Star Trek TV series and since then we’ve had the JJ Abrams inspired films about the younger crew of the Captain Kirk-fronted Enterprise. Star Trek: Discovery is set about 10 years before the original Star Trek series and seems to show the beginning of the long standing bad blood between the Federation and the Klingon Empire that has influenced politics between the two powers on every Trek TV show and a large portion of the movies.
Star Trek: Discovery will be shown on CBS in the US and Netflix weekly elsewhere. It could yield to be quite the coup for Netflix also as it has huge name brand recognition that could draw in even more subscribers to its ever expanding hold on the streaming industry. Star Trek: Discovery will begin September 23rd.
